Winchester Model 94

Winchester Model 94

It’s might be  just a matter of time before you find yourself facing a criminal who would think nothing of injuring you or killing you.  Maybe it’s a carjacker who would kill you for your car, or maybe it’s a meth-head burglar who tries to beat you senseless with a baseball bat to get enough money for more drugs.  How will you defend yourself ?  Will you use a cell phone, a whistle, or maybe some hot coffee to fend off your attacker?  Wouldn’t you be better off using a gun to save your life?  The people in the stories below would tell you that a gun is the way to go.

Seeking help following an assault at the hands of her boyfriend, a woman phoned her parents.  They quickly picked her up and brought her to their home, calmed their terrified daughter and she went to sleep.  Then a banging at the door arose – the boyfriend had found her hiding place.  The parents would not answer, so the suspect kicked in the door and began assaulting them.  The mother was able to struggle free and ran to the bedroom to get her pistol.  Meanwhile, the suspect turned his attention to the father.  The mother returned to find the suspect badly beating her husband.  She opened fire, killing the suspect.  (The Orange Leader, Orange, Texas 05/16/11)

A woman in her early 50s was getting out of the shower when the bathroom lights suddenly went out.  An intruder collided into her in the dark, causing her to fall backward into the shower and injure her back.  She fought the man, but he put a knife to her throat.  “She was telling him that she has money and please don’t hurt her,” said Police Cpl. Edwin Ritter, adding that the attack was an attempted sexual assault.  The intruder forced the woman into her bedroom, but that’s exactly where she kept her .22-cal. pistol.  She broke free, retrieved the gun and shot her would-be rapist several times.  He ran outside, collapsed and died.  “Thank God she’s okay and she had a weapon to protect herself with,” said a neighbor.  “She’s a nice lady, just a sweet lady.”  (The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Atlanta, Ga., 05/12/11)

Robert Parsley was watching television one evening when he heard a noise outside.  He quickly grabbed his Smith & Wesson Model 360 revolver chambered in .357 Mag. to investigate.  The doorbell rang several times.  Parsley looked out the window and saw a man tugging on the locked screen door.  Holding the gun behind his back, he turned on the porch light and asked the young man what he was doing.  He claimed his wife was in labor, and heavily perspiring, he said that he needed help.  But Parsley found the man’s story suspicious .  His instincts were correct: Earlier that evening the man stole an excavator and used it to severely damage a church.  Parsley lowered the gun, bringing it into view.  “Sorry for waking you!” the young man said as he ran off.  Two police cruisers pulled up with their spotlights on searching for a suspect.  Parsley told them in what direction the suspect had run and they found him breaking into a nearby home.  (WTVD-ABC, Raleigh, N.C., 05/20/11)

In 2007, shortly after pharmacist Jeremy Hoven began working the night shift at Walgreens, the store was robbed by four armed men.  Despite workers’ security complaints, Walgreens made no changes, so Hoven obtained a concealed carry permit and purchased a firearm.  Earlier this year, Hoven was behind the counter when two masked robbers carrying guns burst inside.  According to Police Lt. Delmar Lange, the robbers were “very aggressive and very dangerous in what they did and how they did it.”  The robbers ordered all employees into a back room.  Hoven fired upon the robbers, likely hitting one and causing both to flee.  Unfortunately, Walgreens fired the heroic armed citizen for carrying a gun.  (The Herald-Palladium, St. Joseph, Mich., 05/10/11)

Tim Lewis was at the park throwing a Frisbee for his German shepherd when he said “all hell broke loose.”  Three pit bulls, all off-leash, quickly advanced upon his dog and one of them attacked.  Lewis tried to pull the pit bull off, but then the other two joined in.  The owner of the pit bulls showed up and helped Lewis pull back the most aggressive pit bull, but then it turned on Lewis.  That’s when Lewis, a concealed-carry permit holder, drew his pistol and fired a shot, striking the attacking dog.  The wounded dog was recovering after surgery.  “If I didn’t have my gun, I’d be dead right now,” Lewis said.  “It’s not something I wanted to do, I love animals.” (Kirkland Patch, Kirkland, Wash., 05/21/11)

When three men claiming to be contractors told 86-year-old Walter Peppel that his roof was leaking – and that he needed to pay them $11,700 to fix it – he smelled a rat.  The roof was in good condition, and the men had no uniforms, business cards or logo on their vehicle.  One of the men was so bold as to climb atop Peppel’s roof without permission, claiming he needed to inspect it.  Peppel told the men to leave the house.  Instead, they shouted at Peppel, frightening his wife and demanding he pay them to fix the roof.  That’s when Peppel got his original Winchester Model 94 lever-action and pointed it at the scammers.  They fled before the Peppels could record their license plate number.  (Pocono Record, Stroudsburg, Pa., 05/09/11)

The Armed Citizen Report: April 2011

You might argue that liberal Democrats aren’t anti-gun or that they’re not a bunch of rights-infringing anti-American creeps, but you’d be wrong.  Despite the plentiful stories in The Armed Citizen Report where ordinary law-abiding Americans defend themselves with their lawfully owned guns, the Democrats have selected anti-gun Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz as head of the Democratic National Committee.  Yep, the new head DemocRat wants to curtail your gun rights…the same rights people in the stories below exercised.

Pike County, Ohio prosecutor Rob Junk made it easy for a journalist investigating a burglary.  In fact, the entire story was essentially one long quote from the prosecutor.”[The armed citizen] was in his home, minding his own business, when these two individuals busted in, at least one of them armed,” Junk said.  “They trained a gun on him and threatened to kill him.  The citizen later had marks on his body where they beat him.”  The homeowner retrieved a rifle and shot at the men, killing one of them.  “The bottom line is that [the criminal] would be alive if he had chosen to obey the law and not burglarize people’s houses,” said Junk.  “Most of our Pike County residents have guns.  I have several.  If somebody broke into my house, threatened me, my wife and my 5-year-old daughter, I would shoot them dead.  Most people around here feel the same way.”  (Portsmouth Daily Times, Portsmouth, Ohio, 02/15/11)

Through Rocco Bombara’s legs were amputated due to a medical condition, he is far from helpless.  “He’s not someone to mess with,” said his daughter, Nicco.  “He’s pretty tough.  He does everything on his own.”  Rocco also understands that sometimes evil men perceive the physically challenged as easy prey.  One such individual attempted to break into Bombara’s apartment while his son, daughter and several of their friends were watching television.  The intruder crawled halfway inside the window and randomly fired two shots from a rifle.  Bombara drew a handgun from his wheelchair and returned a more precise shot, killing the intruder.  (Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, Pittsburgh, Pa., 01/03/11)

A couple in their sixties were awakened by loud, repeated banging on their apartment door.  They went downstairs and the husband opened the door – and an intoxicated 28-year-old man pushed them aside and entered the home.  The suspect shoved the husband and repeatedly claimed to live in the apartment, ignoring the couple’s insistence to the contrary.  The couple tried to push the man back out the door, but he punched the man in the groin and shoved the woman.  That’s when the husband informed the intruder he had a gun and would shoot him if he didn’t leave; however, the intruder remained relentless in his assault.  The husband fired a shot, killing him.  (Lansing State Journal, Lansing, Mich., 02/05/11)

Upon having his slumber disturbed by the sound of breaking glass, a homeowner quickly retrieved his pistol.  He walked down the hall and discovered two men forcing the front door open.  He shouted at them, demanding they identify themselves.  The men did not reply, but continued breaking in – that is, until the homeowner shot one of them with his .45-cal. pistol.  Police found the wounded burglar lying on the ground outside the home and arrested him; his accomplice had already fled. (The Times, Ottawa, Ill., 01/21/11)

It was less than a year ago that Chicago’s government was forced to repeal many of its rights-infringing laws, and a southside resident recently joined the growing list of armed citizens owing their lives to the Supreme Court’s ruling.  Hearing glass breaking in her basement, a 45-year-old got her handgun and confronted two intruders already inside the home.  “I was scared for my life,” she explained.  “I’ve never been so scared before in my entire life.”  One of the men wielded a tire iron, and the woman opened fire upon him.  He fell and died.  His accomplice fled.  “I thank God that I’m still here,” the woman said. (The Chicago Tribune, Chicago, Ill., 02/21/11)

When 70-year-old Watson Green discovered a man attempting to break into his home late one evening, he immediately called 9-1-1 and got his handgun.  Green advised the 9-1-1 operator that he was armed.  The operator told him to put the gun away and wait for police but Green chose to do otherwise.  In fear of his life, Green fired a single shot, killing the suspect.  Two weeks prior to his death, the suspect was arrested for burglary in a separate incident.  “We’ve had a lot of break-ins in Hobbs lately,” said Hobbs, N.M., Police Officer Mike Stone.  “The residents of the home were probably scared.” (KRQE-TV, Albuquerque, N.M., 02/23/11)

Wacky Global Warming News: 1st Christmas Snow In ATL And Columbia Since 1800s

Snow Headlines

Is Snow Due To Global Warming?

Is someone tracking Al Gore?  I only ask because the godfather of man-made global warming has a mysterious knack for bringing cold weather with him.  If I had to guess about his location I’d say it was somewhere between Atlanta, Georgia; Columbia, South Carolina and the Northeastern U.S. area because those places are getting snow…lots of snow.

It’s not all that weird that it snows in the Northeast, though this year it is creating more impact than recent winters including thousands of canceled flights and major road closures, but in the Southeastern cities of Atlanta and Columbia snow isn’t exactly the most common type of precipitation.  In fact, while the entire East Coast is getting hit pretty hard by winter cold and snow, Atlanta and Columbia are getting snow the likes of which hasn’t been seen since the nineteenth century.  Yep, both Atlanta and Columbia have snow on the ground for the Christmas holiday for the first time since the 1880′s.

Please, someone contact Mr. Gore so he can tell me exactly how man-made global warming is causing all the snow in the Southeast.  Better yet, contact the Nobel Prize winning climatologist…uh, meteorologist…uh…anyway, contact Al Gore and send him to a glacier somewhere.  Maybe his presence will bring enough cold to keep them from melting.

Why Would Minorities Vote Democrat?

Why would minorities vote DemocRat?

Just Say "No!" To Voting DemocRat

It’s a simple question, “Why Would Minorities Vote Democrat?”  I ask this question because elections are once again upon us and with elections come the accusations regarding which political party took actions against or for a particular group.  As usual the Democrats are trying to paint Republicans as a bunch of racists while portraying themselves (falsely) as saviors coming to the rescue of minorities.  The Democrats are not now, nor have they ever been, friends to minorities.

There are two things I always find strange about Democrats posing as Knights fighting on behalf of minorities.  The first thing I find strange is that Republicans often don’t challenge the Democrats very well when it comes to their record defending minority rights.  The second thing that’s strange is that minority voters often buy into the Democrat’s story despite historical fact.  For instance, it’s historical fact that Democrats were Knights when it came to minorities all right…Knights of the Ku Klux Klan (KKK).  The KKK was founded by and operated by Democrats who did everything they could to terrorize minorities and suppress the political power of minorities.  The video explains:

Since the days of the KKK nothing much has changed in the Democrat party.  You might find that statement odd considering we now have a black President and members of the Democrat party reflect all ethnic groups and liberal ways of life, but if you look closely you’ll see that the policies they promulgate serve to keep minorities voting Democrat and dependent on government in general.

Wacky Global Warming News: Himalayan Glaciers

A warning that “climate change” (code for Global Warming) will melt most of the Himalayan glaciers by 2035 turns out to be total crap based on scientific blunders.  A couple of years ago an agency of the United Nations issued a report supposedly based on the very latest scientific research into the horrors of Global Warming.  It turns out that the estimate of Himalayan glacial melt was based on an 8 year old article in a science journal that even the author admits was “speculation”.  Speculation?  Is speculation the “settled science” Al Gore refers to, or is speculation really just a “guess: a message expressing an opinion based on incomplete evidence”?

None of this is a surprise really since the whole Chicken Little view of the climate appears to have been developed based on competition for grant money and recognition rather than actual science.  Scientists of the World misled over Himalayan glacier meltdown.

U.S. Paid for Full-Body Scanners at Nigeria’s Four International Airports in 2007

You read the title correctly.  The US taxpayer paid for 4 Full-Body scanners for the airports in the PantyBomber’s home country of Nigeria.  I haven’t heard yet whether the muslim terrorist actually passed through the expensive scanner but it may not have mattered since there are already experts on record stating they wouldn’t have detected the panty bomb.

Of course even though the Obama administration knows that there are scanners in Nigeria, the PantyBombers country of origin, and that they were completely useless (maybe unused) we’re now supposed to spend billions on them here. Meanwhile, muslim terrorists are already experimenting with explosives hidden in their body cavities and those are not detectable by these scanners. PROFILING WORKS, START PROFILING.

B?  I’m sure you didn’t pick “B. Salma Hayek”.  Salma Hayek was born in Coatzacoalcos, Veracruz, Mexico and is a naturalized American citizen but is not African-American.  Very hot, yes.  African-American, no.

C?  If your IQ is above room temperature you also didn’t pick “C. Aishwarya Rai”.   Aishwarya Rai was born in Mangalore, India and is not an American citizen.  An actress, yes.  Beautiful, yes.  African-American, no.

D?  Did you pick “D. Halle Berry”? Ha! Wrong, very wrong you PC HACK!  Halle Berry was born in the United States…Cleveland, Ohio actually.  She’s an actress, a very good one…and she’s an American…but…she’s not African.  Sooo, not African-American.

A? If you picked “A. Charlize Theron” then you’re not only right, you’re a person with a brain and smart enough to know that Political Correctness is ridiculous.  Charlize Theron was born in South Africa and is an American Citizen.  Sooooo, she’s the African-American.

Hamas Offers Reward For Kidnapping Israeli Soldiers

What would you think if the United States was going to give money to a terrorist organization that is offering a reward to anyone who kidnaps a soldier in the military of one of our allies?  Well, that’s pretty much what’s happening.  The Obama administration pledged $900 million to the muslim terrorist organization Hamas who is offering the sum of one million Jordanian dinars (about $400k) to anyone who kidnaps an Israeli soldier and delivers them to Hamas.  It’s a new bounty reported by the Associated Press and repeated online in Deseret News, Jihad Watch, and other websites.

Hamas has asked Arabs in Israel to kidnap Israeli soldiers before but they haven’t previously been known to offer such a reward.  So why now?  Despite having various income streams from cells here in the United States, private benefactors, Iran, and Saudi Arabia they’ve never offered this type of ransom.  Add to that the budget shortfalls in their political wing, Palestinian Authority, and it just makes you wonder where they think they’ll get the money.  I’m guessing they think their buddy Barack Obama is going to come through.

More Crap From Al Gore – Interior Of Earth Several Million Degrees

Apparently Al Gore, non-inventor of the internet, believes that the lyrics to the song “Walkin’ On The Sun” by the group Smashmouth could be part of his global warming slide show.  Why would I say that?  Well, I base it on the former second-banana’s segment on The Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien.  When O’Brien asked if geothermal energy was really viable Gore replied:

It definitely is, and it’s a relatively new one. People think about geothermal energy – when they think about it at all – in terms of the hot water bubbling up in some places, but two kilometers or so down in most places there are these incredibly hot rocks, ’cause the interior of the earth is extremely hot, several million degrees, and the crust of the earth is hot…

Wow, I never knew we all lived on a STAR.  What?  We don’t live on a star?  But Mr. Global Warming said the Earth’s core is “several million degrees” and he must be right because he’s a Nobel Peace Prize recipient and Oscar winner.  Doesn’t that mean he knows more than anyone else?  No.

I think I was in 5th grade science class when I was told the core of the earth is several thousand degrees.  My science teacher is in good company too.  At the Physlink website they break down the Earth’s core temperature issue:

It is approximately 4000°C at the centre of the Earth. To put this in context:

  1. The centre of the Sun is approximately 15 million°C
  2. The surface of the Sun is 5500°C
  3. Iron melts at 1535°C (when at atmospheric pressure)
  4. Water boils at 100°C (when at atmospheric pressure)
  5. Human skin is comfortable with temperatures up to about 60°C
  6. The highest temperature recorded on the Earth’s surface is 58°C (Libya 1922)

It is not possible to directly measure the temperature at the centre of the Earth and four thousand degrees is nothing more than our most well-established piece of guesswork to date.

Al Gore is not a scientist.  He’s not a climatologist, geologist, or a meteorologist.  He’s a con-man, a huckster making millions off of the unwarranted fear of global catastrophe.  He is also someone who testifies about climate issues in front of other non-scientists in the U.S. Congress while they consider “Cap and Trade” legislation that will drive up taxes and energy costs for Americans.  Make sure your Representatives and Senators know that you know the hot air is from Al Gore, not Global Warming.

Oh, in case you think I’m making this up…here’s the video:

Is Montel Williams Right About A Second Round Of Internment Camps?

Following the tragic murders of 13 soldiers and an unborn baby at Fort Hood, Texas by an American-born muslim terrorist it was predictable that liberals would downplay the killer’s islamic faith and accuse everyone else of over reacting.  One example occurred on liberal talk radio (Air America) on the “Montel Across America” show hosted by Montel Williams on November 9, 2009.

We pulled something like this back in World War II when we decided to round up all Japanese Americans and put them in internment camps…The [anti-Muslim] rhetoric… could get out of hand. What do you think?

The rhetoric could get out of hand?  Where? The Obama administration and the news media downplayed Major Hasan’s muslim faith and his shouting Allahu Akbar before firing at unarmed people.  Even the FBI jumped in before they even arrived on the scene to state they didn’t think it was a terrorist act.  So where is this out-of-control rhetoric leading to new internment camps being aired?  After what seems like endless hours of news coverage I haven’t seen any anti-muslim backlash that even suggests new internment camps are in our future.  But if we assume that somehow Montel Williams is right and there is rhetoric that’s getting out of hand somewhere…then he might have a point because there are some interesting similarities between 1942 when the Japanese were placed in internment camps and today.

1. The U.S. was attacked by a specific group of people and thousands of Americans died;
2. The President of the United States (who ordered internment) was a liberal Democrat who attended Harvard;
3. There was a severe economic crisis the Democrat President tried to fix by massive over spending;
4. The House of Representatives had a Democrat majority;
5. The Senate had a Democrat majority.

So, it appears that some of the ingredients needed to revisit the injustice of internment camps do exist.  Maybe Montel IS right.
